Iris Cummings Critchell, Lt. Col Fitzhugh “Fitz” Fulton, Robert J. “Bob” Gilliland, and Burt Rutan inducted into the 2nd Annual California Aviation Hall of Fame gala with a spectacular ceremony held at Museum of Flying.
Description: Iris Cummings Critchell, Lt. Col. Fitzhugh ‘Fitz’ Fulton, Jr., Robert J. Gilliland, and Burt Rutan have very different backgrounds and accomplishments, but they all are innovators and explorers. Capturing that common quality required a spectacular painting that had to represent different eras and different futures. The artist, Michelle Rouch gained her inspiration from the conceptual astronomical artist, Robert McCall. McCall’s artwork depicts the past, present and future with vivid colors, enthusiasm and great imagination, a perfect match to represent the four inductees at the California Hall of Fame. The artwork, titled “Quest, With Great Sacrifice Comes Great Success” represents the strength and perseverance of the four inductees stepping forward from present day into the future of aviation.
