"Romance of Space" Grand Art Opening
Solo Art Exhibition
Hosted by Tucson Airport Authority, Tucson, AZ
Tucson, AZ, June 23, 2014
The Romance of Space Art landed at the Tucson International Airport. A total of fourteen pieces are on exhibit on the genre of modern expressionism by local artist, Michelle Rouch, offering her interpretation of the Universe. The art exhibition will continue through mid-July 2014 on the Lower Level Gallery at the Tucson International Airport.
The official art opening commenced on Friday, 20 June 2014, hosted by the Tucson Airport Authority. Honored guests were President & CEO of Tucson Airport Authority, Ms. Bonnie Allin and Colonel (retired) Martha McSally, who performed the ceremonial art unveiling. The latest Astro Girl added to the collection among Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Helen Williams, and Fei Fei Sun is Ms. Bonnie Allin. The artwork depicts a portrait of Ms Allin, wearing 1950s fashion dressed in a purplish spacesuit with matching gold boots and gloves. The artwork is titled “President & CEO of the next Tucson Inter-Galactic Space Portal.”
Special guests included Tucson’s astronomical artists, members of International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA), Simon Kregar, Jim Scotti, and Matthew Stricker. IAAA, a non-profit foundation, was formally founded in 1982 with the objective to implement and participate in astronomical and space art projects, to promote education about astronomical art, and to foster an international cooperation in artistic work inspired by the exploration of the Universe. Space may be the final frontier, but Space Art offers an adventure onto new frontiers.
